Over the years the attorneys of

a high level of expertise in certain practice areas.
Although not limited to these areas, we regularly involved

TRANSPORTATION
LAW
We handle automobile negligence cases, trucking cases
and the defense of FELA matters as well as maritime
and aviation cases. Our clients include major automobile
insurance carriers, trucking insurers, corporate trucking
companies and insureds subject to the Federal Employees
Liability Act (railroads and associated vendors). We
are outside counsel for the Missouri Highway and Transportation
Commission (MoDot) and defend highway design and construction
cases.
PREMISES
LIABILITY
From slip and falls to construction liability we deal
with cases that involve personal injury or property
damages arising out of the ownership or control of property.
We represent several major homeowners' liability insurers,
store chains and business liability insurers. We have
experience in construction defect litigation and arbitration
and in contractor and architect liability cases. This
area also includes land use liability and toxic tort
litigation.
PRODUCTS
LIABILITY
We handle the defense of all types of product liability
claims, from strict liability to negligence to breach
of warranty. We have experience in all types of products
from motor vehicles to machinery to hand held appliances
to drugs and tainted food. We defend manufacturers,
distributors and the designers of allegedly defective
products. We work regularly with many of the best experts
in the field and are experienced in handling opposing
experts.
WORKERS'
COMPENSATION
We maintain a separate department to handle exclusively
the defense of Workers' Compensation matters. The proper
defense of workers' compensation cases requires attorneys
that specialize in that area. The department is headed
by a partner with over 20 years of experience in defending
all types of work comp cases. We cover all division
dockets in the eastern half of Missouri and will soon
cover dockets throughout the state of Missouri and in
southern Illinois.
INSURANCE
COVERAGE LAW
Several of our partners have developed a reputation
for handling insurance coverage disputes. We can provide
coverage opinions on business, homeowners, automobile
and all other types of insurance policies. We have substantial
experience in filing declaratory judgment actions on
insurance coverage matters and making insurance coverage
law before the various appellate courts in Missouri.
EMPLOYMENT LAW
We handle a variety of employment law matters including discrimination claims, non-compete agreement disputes and other claims within the State and Federal labor and employment laws.
RESEARCH
AND APPELLATE PRACTICE
RSS&C is proud to have a unit headed by a senior attorney
Gerre Langton devoted exclusively to legal research
and the handling of cases on appeal. The expertise needed
to properly research and prepare appellate briefs can
only be obtained through years of specializing in that
area. We can prepare legal research on most any type
of matter and handle appeals up through and including
the United States Supreme Court. We can be contracted
to provide amicus briefs for parties interested in a
particular case on appeal.
GUARANTY
ASSOCIATION LAW
RSS&C is chief counsel for the Missouri Property and
Casualty Insurance Guaranty Association. We handle both
litigation and statutory coverage matters and would
be available to handle matters involving Guaranty Associations
outside the state of Missouri.
SUBROGATION
We also have a unit that specializes in subrogation
claims. We handle workers' compensation, property damage
and other insurance subrogation matters on an hourly
or contingent fee basis.
CORPORATE
Several of our attorneys have developed practices in
representing small businesses and individuals in corporate
matters from setting up a corporation to contract drafting
and negotiations.
FAMILY
& DOMESTIC RELATIONS
The firm provides representation of parties involved
in actions for divorce, separation, paternity and custody
actions. We provide services for parties seeking step-parent
adoptions and guardianship or conservatorship over children
or incompetent adults.
ESTATE
PLANNING & PROBATE
Our attorneys guide clients through the estate planning
process and can prepare wills and/or trusts for the
protection and distribution of assets. We are experienced
in probate litigation including will contests or competing
hearings. We can assist families in settlements of estates
after the death of a loved one.
COMMERCIAL
LITIGATION
In addition to a number of collection and subrogation
dockets, we handle cases involving contractual and other
business disputes. Debbie Champion is a member of the
Commercial Law League.
REAL ESTATE
LITIGATION
We have a number of attorneys who are experienced in
defending and prosecuting cases involving disputes regarding
real estate boundaries, deeds, adverse possession, quiet
title, land use, premises liability, condemnation and
sales transactions.
UNEMPLOYMENT
& SOCIAL SECURITY APPEALS
Debbie Champion and her team handle appeals from denial
of Social Security, SSI, and unemployment benefits.
