Mark Bates is a partner in the firm’s Workers’ Compensation practice area. Mr. Bates has over 20 years of experience in workers’ compensation defense and employment law in Missouri and Illinois. He has tried over 200 cases. Mr. Bates maintains an active litigation and appellate practice and has trial and appellate experience before the administrative and civil courts in both states.

Mr. Bates is a frequent lecturer on topics related to workers’ compensation defense, employment law, and related business topics such as the ADA, FMLA and Human Resources issues. He has prepared and presented numerous articles on these topics. Mr. Bates has contributed to the Missouri Bar CLE on Workers’ Compensation and to the Illinois Institute for Continuing Education Workers’ Compensation Practice Handbook.

Mr. Bates has been selected as a Super Lawyer in Missouri and Kansas in the practice area of workers’ compensation.

Mr. Bates was a former medical-legal investigator for the St. Louis Medical Examiner’s Office and served in the U. S. Army. He is married, has four children, and enjoys golf and rollerblading.
